10-29: Facebook Users in the News. Banned Pasta Toppings (For Real?)

Facebook is in the news – because some of its users are generating controversy.

Huffington Post ran a feature decrying certain pasta toppings including grilled chicken (the Wise Guys disagree!) and hot dogs (we love them – but not on pasta). Find out if some of your favorites made the list!

Thanks to his sweet, adorable dog, Chris was nearly killed last night when he and the pooch collided – sending the Wise Guys’ fearless (and clumsy) leader to the ground, resulting in a broken rib that nearly punctured one of his lungs.
Chris sucked it up and went directly from the hospital to the studio – and winced his way through the show. Listen to the riveting-ish story – plus Al’s attempted takeover of the show! Nicky’s out of commission for the day – could his flu and Chris’ injury be the result of not heeding Westboro Baptist Church minister Tim Phelps’ warnings on Saturday? Al & Chris recap Saturday’s oft bizarre interview.

Saturday, October 26, 2013

10-26: Interview with Tim Phelps of Westboro Baptist Church. Home Schooling.

Tim Phelps of the Westboro Baptist Church calls and tells the Wise Guys why his congregation is protesting the World Series. He provides some facts about the WBC and discusses why his church protests soldiers’ funerals and what gay people mean for the world.

Is home schooling becoming the best option for our children? With the surge in school violence, it’s probably the safest choice – but what toll would ait take on our kids? Al, Nicky & Chris weigh in. Plus, a listener writes that the guys aren’t “real men” because they favor the death penalty for Philip Chism, who allegedly murdered teacher Colleen Ritzer. Hear how they respond.

Plenty of people blame violent video games, television shows and movies for people’s violent actions. Find out where Al & Nicky stand.

On the lighter side of things – Chris talks about a beautiful love story and a listener asks about the guys’ Halloween plans. Plus, Nicky’s picks, a Walmart update and more!

But the Wise Guys say the shooting is justified. Find out why.

Plus, the episode starts out with a surprise! Duke Smith - who sounds conspicuously like television legend and CRN host Robert Conrad - stuck his head in for an impromptu chat. And when a bride Tamara Fowler called off her wedding, her family decided to still hold the reception. They partied with some very special guests.

10-21: Jets Fans - A History of Bad Behavior Against Women

Nothing new: opposing fans at an NFL game got a little aggressive. The twist here, though, is that a male New York Jets fan punched a female New England Patriots fan in the head. Like many stadia, fans misbehaving isn't anything new. But Chris notes that the Jets seem to have an issue when it comes to how their fans treat women.

Walmart fired employee Kristopher Oswald for helping a woman being beaten has been offered his job back. But should he take it? Listen now to find out the Wise Guys' thoughts.

The Wise Guys are disgusted with where America is going. President Obama seems too preoccupied with the Washington Redskins nickname to actually settle the debt crisis. The Pentagon was put on the Shelf for their despicable behavior toward our nation’s fallen heroes.

Plus, listen to what Governor Lincoln Chafee is stirring up in Rhode Island.

10-05: Family Arguments Over Obamacare and Driver’s Licenses. A Crazy Judge.

There’s dissent in the family. Opinions vary about Obamacare (and the AffordableCare Act!) and California giving driver’s licenses to illegal aliens. Callers offer their opinions, too, during this especially charged episode.

They all agree, however, that a San Diego judge was way out of line for what she did in her courtroom after sentencing a man to life for murder. Find out why they put her on the Shelf. Sweden may give each adult $2800 a month. The Wise Guys think the US should do the same thing - and again call the White House live on the air.
